A bleak, remote area in the far North, an icy kingdom on the East coast of Spitzberg; it is here in a cove off the map that France and Eric have chosen to live onboard Vagabond, their small red sailing boat caught in the ice.
For 5 years they are going to witness the melting of the ice caused by climate change and take an active part in Damocles, the international programme monitoring changes to the ice floe.
The arrival of their daughter Léonie, born under the stars of the North Pole, gives new meaning to their strange life.
Narrated in the manner of a Nordic saga, this film portrays the life of this family living in another time dimension, in the company of the polar bears who hunt on the ice floe in the middle of an endless desert of ice.
