RETURN TO IRELAND, WITH MARTINE FRANCK, PHOTOGRAPHER
Director : Fabienne Strouvé-Beckers

For more than thirty years the photographer, Martine Franck, has cast her eye over many different parts of the world. This film offers a double-faceted look, that of the photographer and that of the film-maker, at the gradual change on Tory Island and that of the future of its 130 inhabitants off the North East coast of Ireland.
Isolated in the Atlantic, Tory Island is a thorn in the side of Ireland. By resisting pressure from the authorities, the island’s residents seek to perpetuate a tradition of islander life where the values of each individual remain sacred. Special moments are captured in photos and on film, exchanges with the King (yes, the Island has a king), the priest, the nurse, the teacher, the painter, the children, and even the elders.
